We are delighted to welcome Cameroonian filmmaker Jean-Marie Teno for the second masterclass of our new Bridging the Gap season.
Jean-Marie Teno has emerged as one of Africa’s pre-eminent and most talented documentary filmmakers. He has been producing and directing films on the colonial and post-colonial history of Africa for over 20 years and his films have been honoured at festivals worldwide, including Berlin, Toronto, San Francisco and London.
Jean-Marie Teno will talk about how he started developing the first person narrative in his documentary filmmaking at a time when this was quite a political act. He will also screen one of his early shorts, hardly seen anywhere.
This is a fantastic opportunity to hear one of the true masters of documentary filmmaking speak about his work.
His best known film ‘Africa, I Will Fleece You’ will be screened at Filmhouse on the same day at 6:00pm (tickets from the venue).
Masterclass is free but please RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org
