Scottish Documentary Institute in partnership with RCAHMS (Royal Commission on the Ancient & Historical Monuments of Scotland) are looking for a documentary filmmaker to develop and make a 15 minute film as a creative response to the unique archive of aerial imagery recording Commonwealth nations from the air over the second half of the twentieth century.
The 15 minute film will be produced by SDI and will be screened at major events around Scotland leading to and during the 2014 Commonwealth Games. This film will be funded by Creative Scotland. We are hoping that during the production period we will manage to secure further interest and funding from broadcasters to make a feature version.
The successful applicant will have a base at RCAHMS offices in Edinburgh as well as at SDI.
Eligibility: This opportunity is open to experienced documentary filmmakers based in Scotland. Filming and editing skills are essential as well as a passion for archive and photography.
Fee: £15,000 on the basis of 0.75 time for 8 months
Application process: All interested applicants must complete an online application form and provide samples of previous work as well as a CV/ filmography and a 400 words proposal explaining how they will integrate the archive in an engaging/insightful short film about the Commonwealth.
Applicants are encouraged to explore the online resources of RCAHMS and The National Collection of Aerial Photography before submitting their proposal.
