Scottish Documentary Institute is appointing a new Director to lead an already successful
organisation in its next steps. The organisation “encourages, develops and promotes
documentary making talent in Scotland and internationally.” Some examples of our creative
achievements are shown in this link.
This is a great opportunity with a fabulous company. The Director is the executive leader the charity, with the equivalent of the combined authority of Artistic Director and CEO.
This creative role is an exciting opportunity for an individual who is passionate about
documentary. The successful candidate will be responsible for the strategy and
implementation of the next chapter of SDI at a time of change, both for the organisation and
the wider cultural sector. Working with a small and dedicated team, the Director will deliver
and measure impact of the organisation’s documentary work and have overall responsibility
for operations, budget and fundraising aided by the skilled team.
He/She/They will also have a broad understanding and enthusiasm for the role of
documentary making as a cultural force that shapes how we see the world. A commitment to
diversity and inclusion will be key as will talent development for future documentary making
in Scotland.
The SDI board are seeking an exceptional candidate and are inviting applications from
individuals with the commitment, experience, and attributes to lead and take forward an
already successful and recognised organisation.
The Director is recruited on a two-year contract based primarily in Edinburgh although the role could be virtual for some of the time. The role is part time and offers the benefit of flexible working currently 4 days out of 5 with salary accordingly pro rata, with an annual salary of £42,000 (£52,000 FTE)”
There may be the opportunity of full time working further into the year should this be
attractive. (This can be discussed on appointment /or at interview).
If you have questions then contact either Noe Mendelle, who is currently leading the
organisation, Debbie Christie or Kirsten Kooy, Board members, through LinkedIn.
