Laura Wadha’s Born in Damascus is screening in London’s Barbican.
The Bridging the Gap film has been selected to screen at SAFAR film festival in the Futures Shorts Programme.
Directed by Laura Wadha, Born in Damascus charts the story of her reconnecting with her closest cousin, 10 years after they had to flee war torn Syria. Using a series of home videos and FaceTime calls, the film recently won a Crystal Bear Award for Best Film in Berlinale.
Filmed in 2019, the short film was part of the Bridging The Gap programme at SDI. Bridging the Gap is an annual initiative aimed at new and undiscovered talent in the creative documentary industry, it is in its 20th year.
Born in Damascus is directed by Laura Wadha and produced by Charlotte Hailstone, of Hailstone films.
