MUJERES: Women in Film Panel Debate - Scottish Documentary Institute

MUJERES: Women in Film Panel Debate

MUJERES is a 3 day long programme held by the film collective Cinemaattic. MUJERES seeks to challenge assumptions made about the female point of view in cinema, and critique the usually unchanging notions of the universally feminine. The programme will include panel debates with directors, producers, and film experts both in Glasgow and in Edinburgh.

By measuring gender (dis)parity in the film industry, Cinemaattic strive to create a platform which amplifies the female voice. The panel discussions will ask – what is the female side of the story… and is there only one way to tell it?

PANEL DEBATE – CONVERSATIONS
This panel, held at the Edinburgh College of Art will explore a number of practical concerns in the film industry, as well as address the broader notions of representation of women in film. It will explore questions such as – What are the public programmes working to equalise gender relative access to the film industry, and how do they do this? What are the funding options available for female filmmakers? How can producers and directors fight for gender equality in the film industry… and how can we overcome the female gaze today in 2018? There will be an audience Q&A at the end of the discussion.
