  • Comms & Marketing, Outreach, Audience Engagement and Development

Debora’s academic journey encompassed San Diego State University and Screen Academy Scotland, where she was awarded a First Class Honours degree in BA Film. In the early stages of her career, she shared her filmmaking knowledge and skill set with the arts, culture, and heritage sectors.

She played a significant role in the digital refurbishment of The Burrell Collection (Glasgow Museums) while also promoting socially-oriented art and architecture projects through Create London, a charity renowned for its collaboration with globally-acclaimed artists including Alberta Whittle, Thomas J Price, and Turner Prize-winner Veronica Ryan.

During this period, Debora drew on her background in filmmaking to work with international, ambitious film-driven collectives such as Archivio, CinemaAttic and Doyenne Studio, crafting and advocating for inclusive, positive, and community-driven communication and outreach strategies. Her role at the Scottish Documentary Institute beautifully combines her love for films, community-building, and providing platforms for emerging and underrepresented talent, all while fostering connections with diverse audiences.

Beyond her institutional roles,  Debora is also a freelance writer and director for both fiction and documentary. She was awarded a short film commission by Short Circuit (Screen Scotland x BFI) and was shortlisted for the Merky Book Prize (Penguin Random House) and Bloomsbury Publishing Mentorship programme.
