TIME TRIAL transports us into the final races of cyclist David Millar’s career, leading up to his last encounter with the Tour de France. We go inside the peloton, we’re pushed up impossible climbs and forced down rapid descents, we lie alongside him in his hotel room in post-race agony. We ride in the support car, the source of comfort, supplies and fleeting relief from the cold. And we know that every mile travelled is a mile closer to the end. TIME TRIAL reveals how the human spirit is driven by forces deeper than success and glory.

“A rage against the fading light” – Richard Williams, The Guardian
“Time Trial finds [Millar] facing a self-imposed cut-off point, giving himself just 18 more months in which to go out in a blaze of glory. But, as this immersive and surprisingly intimate film shows, life had other plans.” – Damon Wise, IDFA: ‘Time Trial’ Director Finlay Pretsell On Working With Tour De France Cyclist David Millar, Variety
“Pretsell may not have competed in the Tour de France but his remarkable new documentary Time Trial sees him get as close to the race as any non-competitor can.” – Geoffrey McNab, Time Trial: A Meditation on Cycling, IDFA Daily 2017 #1
“The film, which gets stronger and stronger as it continues, shows the raw reality of cycling, stripped of every romance that we lovers of the sport wrap around it.” (Translated from Dutch) – Eric Nederkoorn, IDFA-recensie: Het slopende laatste jaar van wielrenner David Millar, Dagblad van het Noorden
