Samarth Mahajan: Directing Borderlands (2021)

Duration: 59:42

For this Coffee Morning event, SDI Director Noe Mendelle was joined in conversation by India-based director and producer Samarth Mahajan, who discussed the challenges of making his latest documentary, Borderlands.

Borderlands, which was pitched at Edinburgh Pitch 2020, which was due to premiere at DOK.Fest, is an intimate exploration of how everyday lives intertwine with personal and political borders in the Indian subcontinent.

Supported by one of the largest ever crowdfunding campaigns for an Indian film, Borderlands featured as a work-in-progress at the 2020 Marché du Film – the business counterpart of the Cannes Film Festival.
