Documentary filmmaker Maziar Bahari was arrested in Iran this week.
Bahari is the award winning filmmaker of celebrated works such as: ‘And along came a Spider’, ‘The Fall of a Shah’, ‘Sistani, Object of Emulation’, ‘Children of Abu Ghraib’ and ‘An Iranian Odyssey’.
Bahari, a Canadian citizen, is based in London and is expecting his first child in 6 months. He was in Iran making a documentary about the Iranian election, where he was detained without charge by Iranian authorities, but has not been heard from since.
Scottish Documentary Institute would like to encourage people to not only spare their thoughts for Bahari and his family but to demand his release via any social network that you may be part of.

To whom it may concern …
It is with great concern that we hear news that the Canadian documentary filmmaker Maziar Bahari has been detained without charge in Iran this week.
Currently his whereabouts remain unknown.
As fellow documentary filmmakers and concerned citizens we demand that Mr Bahari’s situation be investigated immediately and we seek clarification of his legal status. We also seek assurances that no physical or mental harm shall come to Mr. Bahari whilst in Iranian custody and demand his immediate release.
It is an abuse of Mr. Bahari’s Human Rights to hold him without charge and without access to legal representation, we must therefore make you aware of our contact with Amnesty International and other international legal organisations in our ongoing attempts to secure the release and well being of Mr. Mazair Bahari.
Yours
