This month sees The Seventh Art Stand initiative take place across the United States with screenings and discussions being held in theatres, museums and community centres in “an act of cinematic solidarity against Islamophobia”. The initiative aims to highlight the stories and cinema of countries affected by the Trump administration’s travel ban: Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen.
We’re delighted that our film Libya In Motion has been selected to represent Libya for several of these screenings.
Libya In Motion is series of short stories from post-revolution Libya, filmed over three years by local emergent filmmakers. Each film allows a brief insight into the lives of the Libyan people, trying to find normality in a world of chaos and are a testament to the courage and resilience of the filmmakers. They were created in partnership with the British Council.
Scheduled screenings so far are:
May 6 – Browning Cinema, University of Notre Dame, Indiana
May 10 – The Nightlight Cinema, Akron, Ohio
May 11 – Anthology Film Archive, New York
June 1 – Honolulu Museum of Art, Hawaii
