Portuguese film director Margarida Cardoso is best known for her films Yvone Kane (2014), The Murmuring Coast (2004), and Aljubarrota (2008). Yvonne Kane was very successful, winning multiple international awards including from the Sophia, Autores, and Tallinn Film Festivals. Cardoso tutors at the University of Lisbon, and is currently heading the Master Degree programme Doc Nomads at the University of Lisbon.

Interested in individual and collective history, Margarida answers questions of image, archive, and marks of the past. In this Masterclass, we learn about making films, the influence of fascist Portugal upon her work, and the importance of dramaturgy in documentary film.
