Bridging the Gap 2020 commissions announced

20th January 2020 / News

Following three months of workshops and masterclasses, plus a competitive pitching process in Edinburgh, we’re now able to announce the five filmmakers commissioned for this year’s Bridging the Gap programme by Screen Scotland.

All of the filmmakers are based in Scotland, and each of the 10-minute documentaries will now move into pre-production with a cash budget of £8000. The selected filmmakers/films are:

  • Giulia Candussi – Against the Tide
  • Jack Goessens – Venus & Mars
  • Austen McCowan / Will Hewitt – Harmonic Spectrum
  • Patrick Steel – Racing Stock

Bridging the Gap will help the filmmakers develop their projects and allows them the chance to work closely with industry professionals and SDI over a period of nine months.

As well as a budget, the filmmakers will receive in-kind production and distribution support and further hands-on training through the editing period. The films are geared for distribution in cinemas and festival.
