What do a Brutalist architect, a secretive grand-father, Paul Smith, the absence of an inner compass, worms, Arizona and a twinset all have in common?
They all appear in the selected projects for this year’s Bridging the Gap Production Scheme on the theme of Surprise.

Scottish Documentary Institute at SEE Film Festival Brighton

We are delighted to have our very own screening at this year’s SEE Film Festival in Brighton.
A mixture of films from the last two years of Bridging the Gap, the short doc scheme and one film from Edinburgh College of Art where the Scottish Documentary Institute is based at the 9am slot on Sunday 21st February 2010.

Bridging the Gap: Future films screen on BBC2 Scotland

We’re delighted to announce the screening dates of four of our Bridging the Gap films on BBC2 Scotland. The films were made as part of our Bridging the Gap scheme on the theme of Future.

‘Irene’ picks up the Palm Springs Short Doc Award!

Lindsay Goodall’s 10 minute film ‘Irene’ is a personal portrayal of three generations of women who all have to face a difficult decision. The film observes particular circumstances which highlight the tension between Irene’s desire to live at home and the dangers she faces in doing so.

Peter in Radioland wins at EIFF and European Film Academy nomination!

The Scottish Documentary Institute picked up the Best Scottish Short Documentary award at Edinburgh International Film Festival 2009 with Edinburgh College of Art graduate Johanna Wagner. ‘Peter in Radioland’ was produced by SDI Productions and was made as part of the annual Bridging the Gap scheme.
